No snow this year at Soling Audi Icebreaker

Soling Audi Icebreaker  - No snow this year at Soling Audi Icebreaker
TORONTO, CANADA-(25-5-2004) Leading up to race time on day two conditions were less than favourable with light winds, rain, and thick fog (but no snow this year!). Wisely the start of the race was postponed from shore due to the thick fog so competitors retired to the EYC club house where they watched the Monaco Grand Prix until the ‘AP’ flag was dropped at 1030 hrs. The race committee boat led competitors slowly out onto the lake as the fog gradually lifted. Racing was in 10 to 15 knots of wind from the east and visibility was reasonable for all three races. The wind direction was much more stable on day two reducing the need for the race committee to move the windward mark during the course of a race.

Once again Bill Abbott and his crew dominated racing on day two with three bullets followed by three seconds and three thirds for Tom Mitchell and Scot Mundle respectively. Unfortunately Ted Richards’ day was plagued buy a main traveler failure which just couldn’t be fixed on the water and was DNF, DNF & DNS (the author apologizes to Ted for lending him a deflective boat!).

Despite the challenging conditions over the course of the two days the Principle Race Officer, Steve Reid, did and outstanding job of getting in all seven races. Thanks go out to Steve and the rest of the race committee for putting on some great races.
